We are often told that the Democracy is the best system of governance. There is no reason to question that fact. It’s so nice, right! there is no King, no Queen, no reason to be afraid that I shall not be heard. I am not a subject of a king, but I am a citizen in democracy. Such a privilege. My democracy tells me that I have no reason to be bothered of any suppression, any tyranny by the king. But is My democracy and my ruler’s democracy same? My ruler is me. Me means chosen by me, he leads me. He is one among us, he is one like us. He always sat with us, talked to us, knew almost everything about me. My democracy says my ruler already knows about my sorrows, my problems, my frustrations, my expectation. Of course, all these were his problems too. My democracy says my ruler is one among us, he is my leader, I have chosen him to lead me. I always knew he is my voice, my choice. I am surely wrong if I ever do any demonstration or any protest just to explain him what my problems are. What my country’s problems are. He knows it all obviously. But ohh dear my ruler, does all these somehow changes in your democracy. Is it? Why do you change my dear ruler. Pardon me if I am wrong, I see in your democracy priorities are so different Mr. ruler. How it becomes do all and end all tactics to remain elected, selected at every selection every election. When you were me, it was not so. Absolutely not. I keep hearing and watching so much with full of patience. Will there ever MY democracy and YOUR democracy merge to become one. I am your big fan, you are my rockstar, you are my leader. You were so worried about my problems when you were me. Do those problems do not bother you in your democracy. In my great nation I get best of opportunities, best of industries, best law and order. Whichever nook and corner of my country I go, I am not treated as an outsider basis any other identity of caste, province, or any other form. I do not ever become sad to leave my village, town, my country to do a work. India’s villages, towns, cities become great centres of opportunities. I don’t have to see a skilful person getting frustrated sitting idle, doing menial jobs or no job at all. My potential, my talent, my hard work bear fruit. Indian industries become world class. Unleash my potential, my industries, my economy to greater heights Mr. ruler. That’s what you wanted to do all the while when you were me. My mother does not understand sometime, she is always annoyed. I heard loud voice of my mother and a splash of water on my face- ”Hey Chintu, wake up.. it’s so late, you are still sleeping. You have a job interview, prepare hard for the competition son, it is very tough..”. She continues..”You are sleeping, dreaming so much! you already know most of these are daydreams’ I got up from my sleep, oh my god, I must rush. Thank God, I still had a freedom to sleep and dream. Its democracy after all!
